Can I set the numerical identifier assigned to each monitor?

Windows automatically assigns a numerical identifier to each connected display. These numbers are used to help you identify which monitor is Display 1, Display 2, and so on.

The numerical identifier does not determine the physical arrangement of your monitors. You can arrange your displays independently by dragging them into your desired position in Display Settings.

Important

  • Windows automatically assigns the numerical identifier to each monitor.
  • The assigned number cannot be manually changed through Windows Display Settings.
  • The number is used to identify each connected display.
  • You can change the physical arrangement of your displays without changing their numerical identifiers.
