What is TBW (Terabytes Written)?

TBW stands for Terabytes Written and is a measurement of SSD endurance. It represents the total amount of data that can be written to the drive over its expected service life. TBW is often referenced by:

• Content creators
• Video editors
• Workstation users
• Virtual machine users
• Data-intensive professionals

Most consumer users will never approach the rated TBW of a modern SSD during normal operation.

Important

TBW is not a prediction of when an SSD will fail. It is an endurance specification used to compare expected write capability under standardized conditions.
